This game has some conflicting design choices that get in the way of an enjoyable gameplay experience. I get the use of menus if player actions and the opponent were meant to be complex, but I would recommend keeping this turn based and having a limited amount of turns for the player. These menus are a barrier for the real-time playstyle, eating up time when you only have about less than a minute to attempt to win. There were times where I had the chance to spam slash and beat it even when blinded, and then times where I had to think about what to do next. The artificial difficulty instilled into the basic mechanics was a bit of a pain.

I had absolutely no idea how to do anything or what anything meant for the first minute or so, it just was off-putting. Your first impression is an important part of the game.

The art and music was amazing, I had to lose a couple of times to take it all in. Themes all fit together and the music had a similar sound to retro games which was pretty cool.

Overall, the fundamentals of the gameplay are flawed, turn-based mechanics put into a real-time game just wasn't meant to be. Every button, action, and game state worked fine, so development was well done. The music made the game feel fun and engaging and the pixel art was great.

This isn't a review to beat anyone down and I know it was a little harsh, I just feel passionate about indie games and want to see people improve the experiences they create with their games.

Thanks for taking the time to play and give us feedback! We'll be playtesting all day today and making changes.

Thank you so much for your feedback! We are working super hard to improve. We are absolutely taking all of this feedback into account. :)

Since this is a web build you should probably at last post the intended control scheme. Adding WASD support and a more natural selection key would be good. Mouse support shouldn't be too crazy either.

I had to really fight to figure out arrows + z were the input system and by the time I figured that out I lost. The clock system seems to countdown two or three times as I'm selecting stuff too and I'm not sure what that mechanic entails.

Beautiful art and Music though! With some improvements to the controls this would probably have a pretty impactful first playthrough for people.

Thank you so much for taking the time to playtest our game! We still have some time and will be working hard to implement the feedback before our final submission!
